Please, join us in the renovation of our spiritual home with the leadership of an extremely capable, charismatic and deeply caring individual, His Grace Bishop Irinej, the newly elected Bishop of the Eastern American Diocese. Let us use this opportunity to extend our welcome and greet His Grace, who came by God’s grace to offer His hope, consolation, encouragement and motivation to restore our beloved Saint Sava Cathedral.

Present at the Gala will be His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjević and Serbian basketball player Vlade Divac.
Program for the Night:
7 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Champagne reception
8 p.m. – 11 p.m.: Gala dinner and entertainment
All Evening: Silent auction, complimentary wine and beverages.
All proceeds will go towards renewal of the recently devastated Landmark Cathedral of Saint Sava.

The Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava in New York City is an architec- tural treasure listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a New York City Landmark. Formerly Trinity Chapel of the Trinity (Episcopal) Church on Wall Street, it was designed in 1851 by the noted architect Richard M. Upjohn and is a splendid example of Gothic Revival architecture, gracing Manhattan’s historic Chelsea District.
For more than seven decades, this sanctuary has provided spiritual comfort and hope to its Serbian Orthodox congregation and the many waves of immigrants for whom this was the gateway into the New World. Tragically, this cathedral was de- stroyed by fire on Easter Sunday, May 1, 2016, the holiest day for Eastern Orthodox Christians. Both Nikola Tesla and Michael Pupin, world-renowned scientists and inventors, were memorialized in bronze busts, which miraculously sustained no damage.
The tragic loss of this historic building leaves the Serbian Orthodox community without a single church within the city limits. A place of refuge and a vital resource for many people over the years, the Cathedral of Saint Sava served not only New Yorkers but the Serbian diaspora across the United States.[:SR]
